Why RV Inspection Pricing Varies (and Why It’s Worth It)

One of the most common questions we receive is, “Why does RV inspection pricing vary?”  The short answer is simple: not all RVs are created equal. The longer answer—and the more important one—has everything to do with size, complexity, and the time required to perform a truly thorough inspection.

What Determines the Cost of an RV Inspection?

RV inspection pricing typically ranges from $650 to $1,500, and several factors influence where your RV falls within that range. These include:

  • Type of RV (travel trailer, fifth wheel, Class A, B, or C motorhome)

  • Overall length and height

  • Number of systems and appliances

  • Level of complexity (slides, leveling systems, generators, multiple A/C units, etc.)

For example, a 40-foot Class A motorhome contains far more systems and components than a small travel trailer. More systems mean more testing, more documentation, and significantly more time on site—placing larger motorhomes at the higher end of the pricing range.

Size Really Does Matter

RV inspections are not “one size fits all.” A smaller trailer inspection typically takes 4–5 hours, while a large motorhome inspection can take 8–10 hours or more. That time is spent carefully evaluating every accessible component, inside and out.

This is where the value of a professional inspection becomes clear. A larger RV doesn’t just mean more square footage—it means more potential problem areas. From rooftop components to basement storage compartments, electrical panels, plumbing runs, and safety systems, each item must be inspected individually.

What’s Included in a Thorough RV Inspection?

Our inspections are comprehensive and detailed, designed to give you a clear picture of the RV’s overall condition. During an inspection, we test and evaluate:

  • Appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc.)

  • Air conditioning and heating systems

  • Electrical systems (AC and DC)

  • Plumbing and water systems

  • Propane systems

  • Safety components

  • Roof, exterior, and interior structures

We also take extensive photos and document our findings in a detailed written report. This process is time-consuming by design, but it ensures you receive an accurate, unbiased assessment of your RV.

Accurate Quotes, No Surprises

Once we know the specific details of your RV—such as its type, length, and equipment—we can provide you with a clear and accurate quote before scheduling your inspection. This transparency allows you to understand exactly what you’re paying for and why.

An Investment in Confidence

An RV inspection isn’t just another line item in the buying process—it’s an investment in peace of mind. Identifying issues early can help you negotiate repairs, plan for future maintenance, or even avoid a costly mistake altogether.

Whether you’re purchasing a small travel trailer or a large diesel motorhome, a professional inspection gives you the knowledge you need to move forward with confidence—because when it comes to RV inspections, size matters, but thoroughness matters even more.
